Alone In New York City

And its things like being by yourself but never feeling alien,
choking on the cigarette smoke of a thousand other people,
wandering Sephora and having ladies call you sweetie,
several people ho-yaying at the words on your t shirt,
new belts for $4,
dining alone but not lonely while reading Jonathan Safran Foer(and chuckliing) and listening to conversations like :

"Okay, let's go - pick up your fucking coatbag."
"Why do you have so much anger towards my coatbag? Its always pick up your fucking coatbag!!!"

its people trying on skirts at the cashier in the midst of paying at American Eagle,
gallery after gallery after restaurant after restaurant after record store,
and NYU's superb dining halls with some spectacular views,
anonymity,
stores that run so deep its mind boggling,
interesting people everywhere (plus a couple of brazillian supermodels, no kidding),
driving in cars outfitted with talking gps and dvd players,
and going to see a broadway show for half off tomorrow ....

its things like that.

i don't really know what to do about college anymore. i get more confused everytime i visit new campuses, i want to attend every one. wesleyan seems to teem with interesting people but nyu is the most diverse, obviously due in part to its gargantuan population. i like the idea of having internships at abc nbc (HELLO CONAN O BRIEN) and all those places, and i really like the idea that freshman get a bus that brings them to bed bath and beyond, and crate & barrel and pottery barn are all a stone's throw away, just waiting for me to spend all my money on their home furnishings and various accoutrements. i don't know. i have approximately 5 days to decide.
