Ladies and Gentlemen, this is my good friend Eelin.

Eelin's characteristics include doing fantastically well in school and being an impending medical student, being perpetually LATE and unable to estimate time, treating people to movies and meals as penance for her tardiness, becoming more girly, having 5 jack russells. Eelin also says many memorably stupid things. In the span of about 9 hours that I was with Eelin, she filled my life with great joy by saying inordinately weird things.
Eelin : "I'm usually punctual for everything."
(After suggesting we have Empanadas for dessert, which are these sort of fried crispy Mexican apple things)
Eelin : "We should try this dessert, this apple thing .. its really good!"
Bev : "Okay!"
Eelin (leaning over the table to Juliet, the vegetarian, wearing an inquisitive look) : "You can eat apples, right?"
Eelin : "I thought vegetarians don't EAT FRUIT!!!"
Eelin (after taking a tiny pinprick of my Mexican refried beans, which I asked her to try) : Why no taste one???
Eelin : "Are you going to post EVERYTHING I say in your blog? I hope no one reads you blog!!!!!"
(Bev gives Eelin a smug look)
Eelin : "You ... you look DAMN EVIL."
Eelin : "Are you going to put down every sentence I say? Like HI HELLO HOW ARE YOU EVEN?"
In truth, the day was really meant to be Kim's birthday. After Juliet and Eelin and I went to school to waste time and see interesting people (ahemjulietmikehappyfrogahemsecretcode), Eelin came back to my place and the twins, Clare and Kim showed up to prep and leave their things at my house before we headed out for dinner. Eelin and the twins raided my bookcase, borrowing Love in the Time of Cholera, Middlesex, Prozac Nation, assorted David Sedaris, The Lovely Bones and Fight Club. We had Kim's birthday dinner at Pete's Place, and since there were quite a number of us, we split into two tables, one for Kim and her non-SCGS friends, and one with just the SCGS friends. The table gang ate oodles of pasta and pizza and lasagne and cannollini (whatever that is), sharing it amongst ourselves. We ordered 5 different desserts and nearly collapsed.
After dinner we went to ChinaBlack, where they played shitty techno for far too long. Just as we were about to leave, they finally began playing the r n b that we boring young 'un's so enjoy. It only lasted an hour though, and after that we mostly sat around and drank Sprite (which gives one just the right amount of .. ZING!) and then went back to my place rather early, particularly because Kim was feeling claustraphobic in the excessive crowd. At home, I blowdried the twin's INCREDIBLY LONG hair out of complete boredom and we chattered about people from the past till past 4, after which I promptly fell almost-soundly asleep, save for the brief interlude where my dogs made WAY too much nice barking at nothing in particular.
Anyway, the point of this recap was actually to say that the day was really! Meant to be all about Kim's birthday. The table gang collectively got her The Perks of Being A Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky, the sort of cult book I read when I was 13 ("I feel infinite"), Ben Harper's Live On Mars cd (<3 <3 Waiting on An Angel! The Drugs Don't Work! <3 <3 yes annoying heart signs), a sparkly photo frame with a picture of the table gang on Christmas in our Vietnamese hats, a faux-vintage bejewelled cross necklace, a pepto-bismol pink star Mogu cushion, a sparkly blue purse and a sparkly blue journal. Exciting! Presents!
Kim also gave us party favours that I didn't get to open because I put them in a bag I asked Winnie to give back to me on Friday so I wouldn't have to stow it somewhere while clubbing. The bag also contained a photo of Juliet and I and a David Lester t shirt from Buyolympia! that Juliet got me for my birthday. Whoopee. :)
Anyway so, back to the POINT OF THE DAY :
