I haven't yet emerged from studying inertia. I am still stuck in the stasis of the holidays. Desserts and good food simmer in my belly from the past week and from today, although I had the misfortune of eating a thick and clumsy crepe that was devoid of all the beauty and lightness great crepes are meant to possess. Incidentally, I always pronounce it as CRAY-pe rather than CRAP, which is actually the correct but very unpleasant sounding pronunciation. Sometimes I intentionally use wrong pronunciations because I believe they sound better, although I'm sure it makes the people around me doubt my intelligence.
I will have to plough through the next 10 weeks or so, and confront it with great fortitude, because I will need that and heckload of willpower to survive. Results come out in about 2 days, and I wait with a mixture of anticipation and dread. I actually wish the results would be released earlier, so that I would receive a jolt of shock and fear early and so commence true studying in a timelier fashion.
I have spent the past few nights staring at college applications and trying to figure them out - I have a vague idea of what to write for my college essay, but no clear grasp on how I plan to write it and so relate it to all the other ENDLESSLY interesting (cough) aspects of my personality and life. I shall find a way to flesh out the fact that I am a bundle of contradictions and capable of great, bewildering extremes, though I'm not sure doing so will make me a particularly desirable candidate. My mother wants me to apply to Princeton and Columbia despite the futility that I expressed would pervade my attempt. I do enjoy some of the Princeton questions though ; that they ask what my favourite books and movies are delights me simply because I like to tell people these things, even if they won't accept me into their beautiful Ivy League college. You are, after all, what you love.
