So my school has this thing called a confessions board, and it is anonymous. I suppose it is kind of like postsecret, without the artiness and editing. Unfortunately the cloak of anonymity compels people to say mean-spirited things about other people in school sometimes, but every once in a while, something wonderful pops up. In one thread I just read, someone asked the general posting public how long they took to get over their first love, and how they did it. My favourite response(s) :

this is certainly true for me. even at the time, i knew two things: that we would never last together, and that i would always love him deeply. i just didn't yet know what that love would look like. six+ years later, i still have regrets (i wish i had given us more of a chance; i was often cold because i was scared). but mostly now what i feel for him is a lasting concern for his happiness and a great gratitude for what we did have and for how much he loved me. he thought i was smart and beautiful and interesting and wanted to be near me, and that's quite something.

OP, if you're who i think you might be (did we talk on the phone this morning?), that's something real you can take away from this: the knowledge that someone you think is wonderful can desire you and care about you very much.

I don't know why, maybe its because I'm inexplicably drawn to sad things, but that just made me really happy.
